ARCTIC DRIFTER 2001 - PROGRESS REPORT 15/08/01

Currently in Bodo [67º 17’ N 14º 22’ E] It is raining .....again. Rather than 'waste' the next bit of coastline up to Lofoten by hurrying, we are looking for a place to leave the boat here [a little difficult when there is no trailer to put it on]. We think we've got somewhere, but need to confirm.

Since our last e mail, we have visited Sor Fougloya for a breakfast stop having rounded Kunna in a flat calm at 6 am! An impressive harbour with a 1000 foot cliff crammed with puffins. We sailed on from there to a little used wild anchorage on Fleina. The 1 metre deep and 10 metre wide entrance tends to frighten off other potential users, and the clear water makes the rocks look horribly close. A quiet night with only a pair of eagles for company. From here we attempted to sail into a northly breeze, but you know how good Drifters are into the wind, so we motored. Our not much over a litre an hour Honda 9.9 hp 4 stroke outboard was a very good buy.
