Stern Locker
It didn’t take long to discover that things stowed in the stern locker soon took on a moist air (thanks to a centreboard casing design that allows water to slop up through it!).
A partial solution, which at least provides a stable platform for the picnic basket and other sundry gubbins was to build a grating. Made from 1” by 1½” PSE fastened together with stainless steel screws (they just happened to be available in the shed).
The grating is 34 ¼ “ wide at the front, tapering to 8” at the back and is 24” deep. That way it fills as much space as is possible whilst still fitting through the locker doorway – though you have to juggle it a bit to get it sideways on before it will come out.

Mast Transport
Two appropriately shaped blocks, one with pegs to fit into the belaying pin holes on the mast step at the front and one with a notch to fit around the mooring cleat on the aft deck give secure storage for the mast during trailing.
